Cornstarch – Unusual Uses

in Frugal Living

cornstarchMy box of Cornstarch was missing from my cabinet. Oh where did it go? Are you wondering that too? Glad to know that I wasn’t alone on my hunt for my missing Cornstarch. 🙂

I had it in my cabinet just in case I needed to use it to thicken my gravy. I do not like a thin but thick gravy, don’t you?

Back to the case in point, the missing Cornstarch! Can you guess where I found it? Nope not there! Right next to the baby’s diapers!!! Hmmm, how did it get there? Well, I took it and put it back into my cabinet.

Later that night, hubby was asking where did the Cornstarch go?!?! Why I asked? Cause we are out of baby powder. Really, there is a bottle of that in the baby bag, I said. He told me that he didn’t know that and that his mom would use Cornstarch instead of baby powder. REALLY? REALLY? Yep that was true!

Since I’m cheap and frugal, I now use Cornstarch! Actually I have several boxes of it! Hubby will be not be without it anymore. LOL. You don’t even need to use that much of it either!! A little bit does go a long way and I have a happy baby boy!

So of course I had to do a search of unusual uses of Cornstarch!

Did you know that you can use Cornstarch to polish silver, fight stains and more? Check out DIY Life for the different uses of cornstarch! Help fight grease! Clean your windows with it! Freshen up your carpets! Yep, find out the many more uses you can do with cornstarch!!

One of my favorites to try is to iron your clothes with it (well maybe fabric)! For a fraction of the price of store bought products, mix a tablespoon of cornstarch and a pint of water and put that in a spray bottle. Shake very well, spray on your clothes and iron! How simple is that?

If you have light hair, it can be used as a dry shampoo. Just sprinkle on greasy spots and brush through.
